The trip of a lifetime is quickly, all too quickly if you ask me, coming to an end. Meg and I are visiting with Beana and Gooch in Minnesota and then it's back to Boston.
10 weeks have just flown by like the scenery when viewed from a roller coaster.
Whoosh.
The last update was posted by Meg about our visit to the Olympic peninsula. It was beautiful. There are more pictures and stories to share about our stay there, the area and our trip to Vancouver.
Yes, THE trip to Vancouver where we were able to ogle some hunky men and stare in disbelief at the fantastic freaks that surrounded us. Not all of the people there were freaky, but there were plenty to provide people watching enjoyment for hours on end.
Then we have to talk about reconnecting with our cousin Sid and his fantastic and funny sons during a camping trip at Glacier National Park.
Then we have to tell you why we think the entire state of Montana was trying to kill us.
Then we have to tell you all about our trip to Salt Lake where we attended an impromptu family reunion that my uncle wore a dress to - really it was a kilt, but you get the picture.
THEN we have to tell you about seeing Mount Rushmore (which was smaller than I had expected, not that it's small mind you, just smaller than I had thought it would be.
And then we have to tell you about playing frogger on the highway. We weren't playing the part of the frog, thank goodness. We were cast as the car. Ewww, squish.
Now we're getting ready to go to the lake and enjoy the surprisingly warm weather that Minnesota is kind enough to give us this late in the summer, or this early in the fall, it all depends on how you look at it.
So, we've been lacking in the blogging from the road department. Mainly because we've been having so much fun and just taking the time to enjoy ourselves.
When we get back home, as we're packing up the house for our final trip back to Phoenix, we'll be able to get more of the stories posted with pictures.
That should take us through the end of the year and then we'll have baby photos and such to share...
Now, it's time to take baby Lake to the lake with her Momma and Papa.
It's a good thing that Gooch is driving because I have a feeling that Lake and I will be napping in the car.
I know, it's a rough life.

Yes... We were in Forks.... Yes... THAT Forks, WA
You thought we forgot about you but we didn’t! We’re still traveling but we were without internet access for several days. *Gasp!!*
I know, it was hard but we managed to survive and have continued on with our journey just so we have something to report here. Because we’re helpers!
You’re welcome.
After our beautiful coastal drive and our minor stint as Goonies we landed in Washington for a few days.
We started our stint in Washington in Forks.
Yes, that Forks. As in the Forks, WA used as the backdrop in the Twilight series. No we didn’t see Edward/Bella/Jacob or any other vampire/werewolf. And come to think of it we didn’t see any rain for the supposed rainest place in the U.S.
Heh, go figure.
We did however see a lot of our hotel room because we were good girls and did homework. (For those of you we know outside of school, we totally lounged around a slept a lot). AND DID HOMEWORK!
Our final day of Forks we cruised around the city, which took all of ten minutes (no joke), had a wonderful breakfast and gawked at the bajillion Twilight references. Apparently you could buy anything Twilight from the one town locksmith (again, no joke). Also, for those who appreciate a good sense of humor, the local hardware store had added a sign above their actual name that said ‘Newton Hardware’. One motel boasted to have Twilight rooms available but we didn’t actually find out what that meant first hand.
From Forks we ventured through the woods, which was a beautiful drive and made us very thankful for the luxury of paved roads, and landed in Seattle. Landed as in floated. We took the ferry. It was quite interesting to sit in the car, know you’re not driving and yet have the surrounding scenery pass you by.

In Seattle we enjoyed the Space Needle and the subsequent view of the city and surrounding mountains. We had breakfast, mmmmmm Starbucks, and enjoyed the view from our table for a little while before venturing to the outer walkway to see the entire view span. It was also fun to people watch, which has become one of our favorite past times, especially when a large amount of people come together to see the same thing.

After the Space Needle we went to Pikes Place which is the oldest public market. I had enjoyed it until we hit a section of fresh fish brokers and the smell about knocked me on my butt. Melissa says that early in the mornings you can see them tossing fish to and fro and even to the buyers and then I was grateful we’d made our visit in the afternoon. If the smell was that strong and there were no flying fish I can only imagine what that place is like early on.

Anyhoo.
There are a number of trinket shops, fresh flower stands, and stands with handmade this or that. There was quite a bit to look at and even more to buy if you’re in the market for odds and ends. We did find a shop with posters, movie and TV paraphernalia, and a collection of very amusing bumperstickers. Melissa got a few to add to her growing collection and I think my favorite one says “Argh! Argh! Mateys! Lets get liquored up and talk like pirates!”. Although, if you know Melissa then you know liquor isn’t required for the Pirate talk.
The rest of our day in Seattle was spent enjoying the city as a whole and preparing for our departure to Vancouver the next day.
Ahhhh…. Vancouver……
